We believe the love that Jesus demonstrates and offers changes everything. He is the one who is powerful beyond words, pursues justice without growing weary and is more loving than we could ever have imagined. He is the King over everything, but a King like no one has ever seen before. He came not to conquer or dominate, but to serve and love. He laid down His life so that everyone might come to know Him. He has a purpose that is changing our world, for love to make everything new.
When we come to know Jesus, His love for us changes our whole lives. When He becomes the centre of our lives we want to become like Him. We prioritise spending time being still before Him, listening to His voice and reading His words. We don’t just want to listen but to act, so we decide to put His words into practice and live like He did. This change touches every part of our lives; what we believe about Jesus, ourselves and others, the way we think and feel and the way we behave. This change is so deep it’s like moving from death to life, like finding the family we’ve always been searching for.
Perhaps the deepest change that takes place when we discover Jesus is that we see our lives are no longer our own. As Jesus spent His life for the benefit of others, we recognise that we are called to do the same. As He feeds the hungry, puts the lonely in family, speaks and demonstrates the good news, we will do likewise. When this happens, we believe that the love of Jesus will change our community. We will see poverty reduced, families strengthened, new friendships formed and sustained as people put their faith in Jesus.
